Tips for your next trip to Isla Mujeres!

Isla Mujeres is a super paradisiacal destination very close to Cancun that we are very proud of! Here we tell you everything you can do in a day tour, either by catamaran or a boat. We enjoy it so much that we promise you will want to come back and learn more about this beautiful island that is part of the Riviera Maya.

The adventure begins at the port of Cancun, where you have to take a boat to cross to the Caribbean island. It is a journey of about half an hour that is very enjoyable, as the color of the water changes as you go and you can see different shades of turquoise blue.

When to travel to Isla Mujeres

Best season to visit the Riviera Maya:

  • December, January and February: The best season to go is during the winter, as the weather is very pleasant, there is no extreme heat, no chance of rain and no sargassum.
  • September, October and November: During the fall the heat and sargassum is lower, but there is a high probability of rain.
  • March, April and May: In spring there is little chance of rain and no sargassum yet, but the weather is very hot.

Try to avoid if possible:

  • June, July and August: During the summer the weather is super hot and there is a lot of sargassum. With the heat this algae proliferates and besides smelling bad, the water turns brown instead of blue.
  • Isla Mujeres has not been affected by the sargassum issue, but most of the Riviera Maya has, especially the coast from Cancun to Mahahual, including Tulum and Playa del Carmen.
