How to get to Tulum from Isla Mujeres

How to get to Tulum from Isla Mujeres

Even though Tulum is a little bit far from Isla Mujeres, to get from one point to another is not as difficult as it seems to be. Actually, there are lots of options for you to move around, whereby, here we are going to talk about the two most commonly used: public transport and private car.

Public Transport:

First, you need to head up to the Ultramar Ferry Port located downtown the island, if you are also downtown you can walk there, for everything is close in there and if not, you can take a taxi which may charge no more than 50 Mexican Pesos.

The next step is to take the ferry to the Ultramar Ferry Port of Puerto Juarez in Cancun, as you may already know, the ferry ticket costs about 160 Mexican Pesos for a one-way ride. You can always find a taxi outside the port, which can take you to the ADO Bus Station downtown for no more than 80 Mexican Pesos, otherwise, you can take a van (here we call them “combi”) also to the ADO for 10 Mexican Pesos each person.

Once you are at the ADO Downtown Cancun, go straight to buy a ticket to Tulum which costs about 190 Mexican Pesos, once on the bus make sure you have a nice book, some snacks or good music to enjoy a 2-hour trip directly to the ADO Bus Station located Downtown Tulum.

Private Car

If you rented a car on the island, the first thing you need to do is to head up to the Ultramar Carga Ferry Port which is 5 minutes away from the one downtown. Here departs the only ferry that transports cars and trucks, and also people. The ticket for 1 car, the driver and 3 more people cost 400 Mexican Pesos, the extra person costs 50 Mexican Pesos. This ferry arrives at the Ultramar Carga Ferry Port of Punta Sam in Cancun, which is 10 minutes away from the main one in Puerto Juarez.
